Association of North Hempstead at Gala
The Chinese American Association of North Hempstead (CAANH) held its 16th Annual Fundraising Dinner Gala on Saturday March 9 at the Swan Club in Glenwood Landing. The organization is committed to sharing Chinese culture and traditions with the community, and its annual gala allows them to renew friendships, form new relationships, and meet local politicians and elected officials.

2013 Women's Roll of Honor
North Hempstead Announces the 20th Annual 2013 May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor Manhasset, N.Y.- North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Clerk Leslie Gross are pleased to announce the honorees for the 2013 May W. Newburger Women's Roll of Honor. Event chairperson, Leslie Gross, has chosen the theme for this year's breakfast on March 21, 2013, which will recognize North Hempstead's "Women as Trail Blazers." According to Ms. Gross, "It is my pleasure to recognize the extraordinary women in the Town of North Hempstead for their selfless contributions to the community."

Jessie’s Fireshack & Pizzeria North Hempstead
Town Clerk Leslie Gross, Nassau County Legislator Rich Nicolello and members of the Greater New Hyde Park Chamber of Commerce helped welcome Jessie’s Fireshack & Pizzeria to the New Hyde Park community at its grand opening on October 16. The restaurant, located at 1300 Jericho Turnpike, will provide an array of culinary choices from pizza to sandwiches to BBQ and more.
Filming in North Hempstead
North Hempstead Town Clerk Leslie Gross announced in the August 29th edition of Newsday that the Town Board plans to hold a public hearing September 12th on a proposal to lift some of the restrictions on filming in the town’s unincorporated villages. “I think it’s a matter of civic pride when you can say this movie that’s just coming out was filmed here,” Gross said. “It creates a kind of excitement”. The Town has even dedicated a staff member, Maxine Moss, also known as Maxine Scorsese, to head this initiative to attract more Hollywood filming to the Town. With the residents best interests in mind, Town Clerk Leslie Gross did point out that other restrictions are intended to preserve residents “quality of life”.
Child Safety Identification Kit
To help safeguard our children, the Town of North Hempstead’s Town Clerk Leslie Gross, Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and our Town Board introduce a Child Safety I.D. Kit. The town will furnish the kit’s photos free of charge and administer fingerprinting services. We will even assist you in affixing strands of hair to this identification file. The parents then take the kit home and retain this information with their vital records. Call 516-869-6311 for further information.
2012 9/11 Remembrance
On Tuesday, September 11, 2012, the Town of North Hempstead held a Memorial Service at 8:30 A.M. at Clark Botanic Garden, 193 I.U. Willets Road, Albertson. 2012 Women's Roll of Honor
The 19th Annual North Hempstead Women’s History Month Breakfast/ May W. Newburger Women’s Roll of Honor will be held at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links on March 22, 2012 beginning at 8:00 AM. On that morning, The Town will add another group of outstanding women to the prestigious Roll of Honor. In 2011, we welcomed over 200 people, and we are certain that this year’s event will be even more successful.

Valentines Day 2012
The third annual North Hempstead Valentines Day Re-Commitment Ceremony will take place February 14, 2012 at Harbor Links Clubhouse in Port Washington. Last year’s event included 60 couples who had been married for over 50 years. This year, we expect to welcome 80 couples who will participate in the ceremony and stay for a sumptuous luncheon. Kevin Greenstein visit Daly School
On Monday October 24, Town Clerk Leslie Gross visited Daly School to share information with the class about her responsibilities as Town Clerk. With her was Port Washington resident, Kevin Greenstein (who was born with cerebral palsy). Kevin spoke to Mrs. Andors' 5th grade class about his experiences as a student at John J. Daly Elementary School, and answered many thoughtful questions from students in the class. Kevin works part-time in the North Hempstead Town Clerk's Office as Community Liason with his job coach, Robin Black.

Town Presents Check to Carle Place Seniors
In late September, North Hempstead Town Clerk Leslie Gross represented the Town at a Presentation from the Town of North Hempstead to the Carle Place Senior Citizens at the Charles Fuschillo Park in Carle Place . Along with the Clerk was Councilwoman Viviana Russell and Receiver of Taxes Charlie Berman. The Carle Place Senior Citizens Organization gratefully accepted a $2,500 check and thanked the Town for its support.

Herricks Senior Center Anniversary
In late September, North Hempstead Town Clerk Leslie Gross attended the 31st Anniversary Celebration for the Herricks Senior Center. Leslie awarded the Senior Center with a citation for 31 years of service to the community.
