Town Board Honors Area Firefighters
Manhasset, NY – Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Council honored several firefighters from the area who received awards for exceptional bravery in the line of duty. East Williston Firefighter Frank J. Behan for receiving a Class III Meritorious Personal Risk Bronze Medal of Honor at last Tuesday's meeting. Mr. Behan was awarded the Bronze Medal for rescuing a woman from a burning building in East Williston on November 10, 2004.
Roslyn Rescue firefighters Michael De Gregorio, Peter Liotta, Steven Krukowski were honored for receiving the Class II Silver Medal of Honor from the Nassau County Fire Commission. The three men received the awards for their part in the November 7 incident in which the first floor of a burning home in Roslyn Harbor collapsed beneath them. The decisive action of the three men saved the life of a fellow firefighter.
In addition, Great Neck's Vigilant Fire Company was honored for receiving the Emergency Medical Service Award from the Nassau County Fire Commission, and AEMT David Weiss and RPA-C Jacob Ettinger were cited for their individual efforts.
