Record Crowds Attend North Hempstead Beach Fest Celebrations
Port Washington, NY—Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Council announced that the annual family day celebrations at North Hempstead Beach Park attracted record numbers of attendees.
“The widespread popularity of FamilyFest is a testament to the recognition of North Hempstead as one of the best places in the country to raise a family,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman. “The event gets better and better each year.”
Showcasing a wide spectrum of entertainment, including a team of double-dutch jumpers and bands playing ‘60s music, reggae, and Bruce Springsteen anthems, North Hempstead’s annual end-of summer celebration attracted an estimated 4,000 revelers.
Roger Chizever, of Great Neck and his 14 year-old daughter, Alycia, was among them.
“It’s a fun and inexpensive event, a great place for families,” Mr. Chizever said, pointing to the abundance of activities such as face painting, kite flying, sand castle building and more.
Not to mention the giveaways.
In fact, Mr. Chizever came away with a treasured tee shirt his daughter won for him courtesy of the New York Knicks Groove Truck. He got a real charge, he said, watching his daughter bury three consecutive shots for the prize.
Compared to the average family outing, he said, whether it’s to the movies, bowling or the typical fair with rides, it’s hard to beat FamilyFest for value.
