TONH to Offer Free Summer Movies in August

Manhasset, NY—Supervisor Jon Kaiman announced today that the Town of North Hempstead will offer three free, family-friendly movies for all town residents in the month of August, The Express. Bolt and Wall-E, which includes NASA sponsored stargazing and a video presentation.

“North Hempstead’s free summer movies are a great way for families to enjoy quality time together and at an inexpensive rate,” Supervisor Jon Kaiman said.

The free showing of The Express will be held at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park, August 15, 2009. Based on an incredible true story, this biopic focuses on the relationship of Ernie Davis, a gifted African-American athlete and his coach.

The free showing of the animated comedy Bolt will be held at Clinton G. Martin Park, Wednesday, August 19 at 8:30pm.  Starring the voices of John Travolta and Miley Cyrus, Bolt is the hilarious story of a dog who is convinced that his role as a ‘super-dog’ in a hit TV show is reality.  Residents are asked to bring a chair and a snack to the free showing.

A special drive-in style showing of the movie Wall-E will be held at North Hempstead Beach Park, Wednesday, August 27 at 8:30pm.  Approximately seven hundred years in the future, the earth is over-run with garbage and devoid of plant and garbage collecting robot is left to clean up the mess.

To further heighten the adventure of the outer space thriller, North Hempstead welcomes Dr. Donald Lubowich, who will present NASA sponsored stargazing and a video presentation.

For further information, residents are asked to call 311 or (516) 869-6311.
