R.S.V.P. (RETIRED SENIOR AND VOLUNTEER PROGRAMS)
Opportunities for retired persons aged 55 years and over to serve on a regular basis as volunteers in such areas as non-profit hospitals and nursing homes, institutions for the handicapped, schools, libraries, County offices, Head Start Programs, day care centers, visits to homebound, etc. For volunteer application forms, speaker information, contact:

The Social Services Volunteers of Nassau County, Inc. is not for profit chartiable organzation as defined under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. The Volunteers work in partnership with the Nassau County Deparment of Social Services to provide asssistance for familes and children, the elderly, and people with disablities.

Foster Grandparents
Enables low-income senior citizens age 60 and over, to assist children with special needs in hospitals and day care centers.  Volunteers receive a nontaxable stipend, assistance with transportation, and an annual free physical examination.  For more information call: (516) 227-8988.

SCOREService Corps of Retired Executive's - Retired business executives provide free consultation on financial, marking and managerial problems for new or existing businesses.

EMPLOYMENT SERVICES

Senior Community Service Employment Program The Nassau County Department of Senior Citizen Affairs administers a federally funded employment program (Title V) for economically disadvantaged persons, age 55 or older, to work twenty hours per week in public or private non-profit agencies. Job Placement Service This program offers free employment service to Nassau County residents age 55 and over. Persons seeking employment are assisted with resume preparation and placement counseling. Special attention is given to matching skills with positions and placing employees close to their homes. No fee for employers.
