North Hempstead Announces Popular Senior Event FunDay Monday Schedule

North Hempstead, NY – Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board recently announced the 2013 schedule for the popular FREE senior event, FunDay Monday, held at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington. FunDay Monday, organized by the Department of Community Services, will begin on July 8th and end on August 26th.
Held at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, FunDay Monday runs from July 8th to August 26th. The four-hour-long event kicks off at 10:00 am
Organized and hosted by the Town’s Department of Community Services, FunDay Mondays offers hunreds of seniors from across the Town the opportunity to gather for games, music, dancing, entertainment, and exercise. The program’s most widely attended event is the Health Fair, which takes place on July 29th and provides seniors with health screenings, literature, and educational materials.
The FunDay Monday Summer Event Schedule is:
July 8 is “Welcome Back Beach Party”. Come on back for a FunDay Monday reunion with a performance by Stan and Edie.
July 15 is Las Vegas Day. Odds are you’re going to love the winning Tribute to the great Frank Sinatra!
July 22 is Sock Hop. You don’t need to put money in the Juke Box to rock with Vic Vincent.
July 29 is the Health Fair. Do you know someone who would benefit from the information and services at our annual Health Education Fair? Invite them to come or bring them along with you for this fun and FREE event.
August 5 is Blue Hawaii. Take a trip to the Polynesian island with the amazing Dance Aloha, and let your dreams come true in Blue Hawaii.
August 12 is Mardi Gras. This is a celebration of jazz with local favorite Vincent Rhodes with dancing, feathers, beads and masks.
August 19 is Pirates of The Gold Coast. Come sail the Great Gold Coast with CD Rocks Entertainment.
August 26 is HomeTown USA Family Day. Join us with an end to summer celebration of American traditions and a special Salute to the Armed Forces.
In addition to the FunDay Monday event schedule, seniors can attend weekly classes to learn how to line dance from 10am to 11am, and both yoga and mahjong will be offered from 11am to 12pm.
Seniors can call 311 to arrange for free transportation and for additional information on the events. Rain dates will be on Thursdays of the same week.
