North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Town Councilwoman Anna Kaplan, in partnership with the Great Neck Park District, will present Pouya in a FREE concert on August 24th at 8 p.m. at North Hempstead Beach Park. Pouya, the world-famous Iranian-born pop singer, is best known for his 2000 hit “Safar” Journey song. Pouya’s performance is part of the Town of Hempstead’s Free Summer Concert Series.

“We are very excited in the Town of North Hempstead to be featuring Persian singing sensation Pouya at our free summer concert series,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “His high energy act is sure to have the crowd dancing in their seats.”

Pouya was born in Bandar Anzali, Iran in 1975, to Iranian parents. He left Iran for Norway with his Father when he was 12 years old. After 7 years living in Norway, he moved to London. In 1999 he moved to Los Angeles and began his music career.

“This concert promises to be one of the highlights of the summer,” said Councilwoman Kaplan. “I look forward to sharing a wonderful night of music and friendship under the stars.”
