Snow Emergency Declaration Lifted

North Hempstead, NY– Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board announced that the snow emergency declaration enacted Friday, February 8 has been lifted, effective retroactively to Sunday, February 10, 2013 at 1:00 pm.

The snow emergency declaration required parked vehicles to be cleared from streets previously declared a snow emergency route. With the snow emergency lifted, vehicles can now revert to parking on snow emergency routes where allowed under parking ordinances.

“We thank our residents for their patience and cooperation in doing their part to help the Town’s Highway Department clear the roadways of snow and ice,” Supervisor Kaiman said.

More than 100 pieces of equipment were deployed, clearing the Town’s 600-plus lane miles of highways of snow and making them passable for residents. Crews of more than 120 workers on snow removal duties worked Friday night into Saturday.
