North Hempstead’s BTDC to Co-Host Art Exhibit and Seminar

North Hempstead, NY
–The Town of North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC) is proud to announce a partnership with the Long Island Development Corporation’s (LIDC) Long Island Small Business Assistance Corp. (LISBAC) Division and the Amsterdam at Harborside, a Port Washington senior life care retirement facility. The BTDC will co-host an art exhibit, and a free breakfast seminar.

The pair of early August, art-driven events planned under the auspices of the BTDC are: • The August 6th opening “Meet the Artist” reception at the Amsterdam, 300 East Overlook (off Fairway Drive) Port Washington will run from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm. The reception kicks off a weeklong art exhibit featuring paintings and poems by Ruth Poniarski

  • And the August 8th free breakfast seminar, “The Business of Art,” at the Amsterdam from 8:30 am to 10:30 am is emceed by Angela Susan Anton, CEO, Anton Publications. Featured speakers Charlee Miller, Executive Director, Art League Long Island, will give a presentation on “Art as a Marketing Tool for Business, Regina Gill, Executive Director, Great Neck Arts Center will discuss “Art as a Community Revitalization Tool” and Dr. Michael Schantz, Executive Director and CEO of the Heckscher Museum of Art will talk about “The Business of Museums and Their Impact on Communities, Economic Development and Quality of Life.”
  • This is just one of many partnerships the Town partakes in year-round. For example, the Town’s Office of Inter-municipal Coordination frequently pairs the Town with other local governments and municipal corporations in order to cut costs on services, ultimately lessening the taxpayer burden. In addition, North Hempstead recently formed a partnership with the Great Neck Arts Center as an added economic vehicle for the community by bringing various entertainment ventures such as the Gold Coast Film Festival to the area.
