Star-Studded Lineup Announced for 3rd Annual Gold Coast International Film Festival
Must-See Event Set to Once Again Bring Quality Films and the Producers, Directors and Stars who make them, to Long Island’s Gold Coast Communities

North Hempstead, NY
– Prominent celebrities, government officials and supporters of film gathered today at the Bow Tie Movie Theatres in Manhasset to announce the lineup for the 3rd Annual Gold Coast International Film Festival (GCIFF).

The GCIFF, collaboration between the Gold Coast Arts Center and the Town of North Hempstead, will take place October 21-27, 2013 at various venues across the Town. Everyone’s invited for another round of fantastic films, parties, panels, and fanfare!

Since GCIFF’s inception, the festival and year-round film series have successfully brought the latest Hollywood hits and Indie favorites to the North Shore of Long Island. Add A-list celebrities and unforgettable events to the mix and it’s safe to say that the GCIFF has quickly gained the reputation of the “go to” Festival for many fans and distributors alike as it’s the last major Festival on the East Coast before award season.

Town Supervisor John Riordan thanked all elected officials and supporters for coming to the kick-off event which included Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano, State Senator Jack Martins, State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, Town Councilwomen Anna Kaplan, Lee Seeman and Dina De Giorgio, Town Clerk Leslie Gross and Town Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman.

“This festival not only underscores the administration’s commitment to use film and art as a vehicle to boost the local economy but it also confirms the Town’s emergence as one of Long Islands most popular places for movie and television filming,” said Supervisor Riordan. “In fact, as we speak, a critically-acclaimed network show, The Blacklist, is filming here in Manhasset just a few blocks away.”

Nassau County Legislator Judi Bosworth, who is a former member of the Great Neck Arts Center (now known as the Gold Coast Arts Center) said, “The Gold Coast Film Festival has become an institution here in North Hempstead and I am proud to have supported this event since before its inception. Kudos to Regina Gil and all those involved in making this happen. The festival brings art and commerce to our area and enriches our lives. I think that's a win for all of us."

Regina Gil, Executive Director of the Gold Coast Arts Center, is excited about this year’s lineup. “It gets better and better every year, and this year we are excited to transform Long Island into ‘Laugh Island!’ We will have a host of legendary comedians join us for some unforgettable films and events.”

Jackie "The Joke Man" Martling (formerly of The Howard Stern Show) who served as M.C. for the kick-off event, will be performing a special event before the festival begins on Saturday October 19th. Other comedic events include Susie Essman (HBO’s Curb Your Enthusiasm), Jeffrey Gurian and Paul Provenza who are bringing the widely successful “Set List: a chance to see your favorite comics as they’ve never been seen before” – to Long Island for the Festival as well. “Set List” was made famous by comics like Robin Williams, Drew Carey, Judah Friedlander, Roseanne Barr, Gilbert Gottfried, Big Jay Oakerson, Jeffrey Ross and many more – all who have been invited to attend!

The slate of films in 2013 is stronger than even before, as this year the GCIFF presents The New York Premiere of “Another Woman’s Life” (a French romantic comedy starring Juliette Binoche), “Face of Love” (A romantic drama starring Annette Bening and Ed Harris, direct from the Toronto Film Festival), “The Genius of Marian” (A life affirming documentary about a family coping with Alzeimer’s – with a panel of North Shore-LIJ Health System).
