Town Mourns Death of Former Town Clerk Davanzo

North Hempstead, NY – Former Town of North Hempstead Councilman and Town Clerk John S. Davanzo of Mineola passed away on March 21, 2014 at the age of 92. Davanzo served as a Town of North Hempstead Councilman from 1966-1973 and as the Town Clerk from January 1974-December 1991.

“John Davanzo generously devoted many years to tirelessly serving his neighbors and community here in the Town of North Hempstead,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “We extend our deepest condolences to his family.”

In addition to his public service in the Town of North Hempstead, Davanzo also served as the Mineola Deputy Mayor and a Trustee; he was a Navy World War II veteran and survivor of the Normandy Invasion; Ex-Captain and Honorary Chief of the Mineola Fire Department with 67 years of service; and also served as a member of numerous civic, political and volunteer organizations.
