Town Launches Smartphone Parking Payments in Port Washington through Pango
Pilot Program underway in Lot 4

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Dina De Giorgio and the Town Board are proud to announce that that the Port Washington Parking District has launched Pango Mobile Parking, a pay-by-phone parking payment program, , in the district’s Lot 4. Lot 4 is located on Maple Street between Port Washington Boulevard and South Maryland Avenue.

Pango Mobile Parking allows residents to park and pay-by-phone quickly and easily using an iPhone, Blackberry or Android Phone and customize the Pango mobile parking account to suit individual needs. Before parking time expires, users will receive a text message so they can get back to their car or extend their parking time. There is a 20 cent convenience fee per transaction.

“I am excited about adding another wonderful and convenient tool for drivers in Port Washington as we continue to embrace the technology of the 21st century,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “This program offers our residents a great, convenient alternative. Rummaging for change or running outside in the middle of dinner to feed the meter can become a thing of the past.”

Council Member De Giorgio said, “I continue to work towards using technology in order to make parking a more enjoyable and convenient experience in Port Washington.”

The Pango program will soon be rolled out for all on and off-street meters as well. This is a six-month pilot program that will be re-evaluated for effectiveness at its conclusion.
