Town Reminds Residents to Recycle

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board remind residents to be environmental friendly this spring by properly recycling their plastics, metal, glass and paper products.

Residents can dispose of the following items in their recycling bins as part of their curbside garbage collection program:

• Glass - including beverage bottles and food jars
• Metal – including food and beverage cans, aluminum foil and baking tins
• Plastics – including food and beverage containers, laundry detergent bottles and personal care products with the numbers 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 in the recycling triangle normally found on the bottom of an item

Residents are reminded that all items should be rinsed and cleaned of residue before being recycled.

Paper and cardboard including newspapers, magazines, cereal boxes and clean pizza boxes can be disposed by bundling the package with string and placing it next to your recycle bin
