Town Offers Free Parking for Veterans for Town’s Memorial Day Weekend Fireworks

North Hempstead, NY –North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, the Town Board and the Parks and Recreation Department are pleased to announce that there will be FREE parking for veterans on May 27 for the Annual Memorial Day Commemoration and Fireworks Extravaganza at North Hempstead Beach Park.

“Offering our veterans a free parking pass for the Memorial Day Fireworks show is the very least we can do to acknowledge their tremendous sacrifice to our country,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “We hope that all veterans will stop by the park office to get their free parking pass prior to the event.”

The free parking passes for veterans will be issued at the Park Office at North Hempstead Beach Park from May 21 to May 26 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Park Office is located to the right of the tollbooths. Qualifying residents will need to show their government-issued VA card.

This parking pass applies only when the main lot at North Hempstead Beach Park is still open. When the lot is full, overflow parking is available for free with shuttle bus transportation.

North Hempstead also offers discounted annual parking permits for all veterans at all Town parks, at a price of $25, as opposed to the general $50 resident rate.

North Hempstead Beach Park is open daily from 9 a.m. to dusk and is located at 175 West Shore Road in Port Washington. For more information, please call 311 or (516) 869-6311.
