Town Recognized as a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation for the Seventh Year

North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are pleased to announce that the Town has once again been recognized as a “Tree City USA” by the Arbor Day Foundation.

This is the seventh year that the Town has received the designation of “Tree City USA.” This designation is given out to towns and cities that have a viable tree management plan and program. In order to be eligible to be recognized as a “Tree City USA” community certain requirements must be met such as; having a Tree Board or Department, having a Tree Care Ordinance, having a Community Forestry Program and the observance of Arbor Day.

“It is an honor to once again receive this designation that recognizes the Town’s commitment to the environment and to ensuring the protection and planting of trees,” said Supervisor Bosworth.

The “Tree City USA,” program was created by the Arbor Day Foundation, which is the nation’s leading community forestry program that provides a foundation for effective and well-organized community tree care.
