TOWN PRESENTS 4th ANNUAL FAMILYFEST

AT NORTH HEMPSTEAD BEACH PARK

Spend a Fun-Filled Day at the Town Beach

Port Washington, NY – Urging residents to enjoy one last day of summer, North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman along with the Town’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation and the Department of Parks and Recreation have announced that the fourth annual FamilyFest at North Hempstead Beach Park will take place Sunday, September 14, 2008 at 12: 00 noon. FamilyFest is North Hempstead’s annual end of summer celebration, complete with music, food and entertainment, creating a perfect opportunity to join with family, friends and the community to commemorate the end of the 2008 summer at the town beach.

“After the success of last year’s event, I sincerely urge you to take time, kick back and enjoy the Town’s fourth annual FamilyFest at the new North Hempstead Beach Park,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “We hope residents will come out to soak up the sun, participate in all the free activities and unwind while listening to the featured bands.”

Attractions for children and adults of all ages will include a petting zoo, professional sand castle building, NY Knicks Basketball demonstration, day-time stargazing via high-powered telescope, circle drumming, food, Mad Science exhibits, specialized face painting, kayaking, T-shirts and prizes, story readings, educational sections, and much more. This popular event kicks off at 12:00 noon and will continue throughout the day.

Everyone who attends will enjoy live music and entertainment all day long. The featured bands are Dentzel Botus (Reggae) at 12:15 pm, followed by Runnin’ Loose (Country music) at 1:30 pm, next Hot Peas & Butter (Children’s Music) will perform at 2:30 pm, then Radio Daze (a Classic Rock Cover band) plays at 3:30 pm and finally, enjoy the classic rock and roll tunes of the Beach Boys, as performed by the Driftwoods, at 4:45pm.

The 2008 FamilyFest is brought to you by the Town of North Hempstead in partnership with the town’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation, the Department of Parks and Recreation, and a generous host of corporate sponsors.

Supervisor Kaiman added, “I would like to thank our co-sponsors Cablevision, Capital One Bank, Panera Bread, Wachovia, HSBC, Kiss, Sandata Technologies, The Amsterdam, Signature Bank and Roslyn Savings Banks for all their support and shared commitment toward ensuring a well-run event.”
