Seminar # 1 - June 5, 2003

A Message From Supervisor Newburger:

Small Business is the backbone of our economy.  Here in North Hempstead, it is our life's blood. For the small business owner, it puts the food on their table, the clothes on their back, and the roof over their heads.  For us in government, it provides the tax base needed to offset residential taxes & enables us to provide quality services to the communities we serve. During these turbulent economic times, it is imperative that we not only do all we can to ensure that small business survives, but thrives as well.

That's why I'm pleased to announce the Town's first-ever free series of small business workshops designed to give you, the small businessperson, a greater knowledge of the financial & governmental resources available to help your business grow. Whether it's learning what low-cost financial products are available, how to obtain federal & state government contracts or determining the best way to purchase a building for your business, you will find a wealth of information to assist you.

I want to thank Roz Goldmacher of Long Island Development Corporation for her assistance and her wonderful PTAP/LISBAC Team of Sol Soskin, Patty Cook & Heidi Lustig for putting this wonderful program together.  I also want to thank Michelle DiBenedetto & Doug Asofsky
of Citibank; Edward Blaskey & Patricia Mezeul of Commerce Bank and Michael Locorriere & Lucy Mazany of State Bank of Long Island for their efforts in securing the financial contributions needed to make this program possible.

Yours truly,

May W. Newburger
