Town Announces Senior Driving Forum Sponsorship

NORTH HEMPSTEAD (October 18, 2004)As part of the Town of North Hempstead’s effort to fulfill the needs of senior residents, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Fred L. Pollack are pleased to announce that funding for the “Informational Forum on Senior Driving” has been provided by The Amsterdam at Harborside.

“This generous donation from The Amsterdam at Harborside demonstrates that it wants to have an active role in the community,” Councilman Pollack said. “I am happy this company shares in the community spirit of our Town and that it wants to help meet the needs of our residents.”

The event, created and planned by the Town’s Senior Citizen Advisory Commission, will be held at Clinton G. Martin Park on October 26, 2004 at 9 a.m.

The forum will confront many issues facing senior drivers, including when to stop driving and how to get around Long Island without a vehicle. The forum will feature a myriad of speakers, such as a traffic safety expert from the AAA, a geriatric specialist, senior drivers currently experiencing this life-altering decision and representatives from organizations offering transportation alternatives.
