Town Announces Completion of Tully Park Ball Field Renovations

 

            New Hyde Park, NY – Supervisor Jon Kaiman, Councilman Anthony D’Urso, and Councilman Angelo Ferrara recently announced the completion of the renovations to all three baseball fields at Senator Michael J. Tully Park in New Hyde Park.

 

            Town of North Hempstead is committed to providing our residents with the best possible parks and recreational facilities,” said Supervisor Kaiman.  “Upgrading and maintaining Tully Park is an important step in preserving the quality of the neighborhood.”

 

            The upgrade of the ball fields at Michael J. Tully Park in New Hyde Park is an indication that this Town board is committed to provide safe and beautiful playing fields for all Town residents to enjoy,” continued Councilman D'Urso.  "Good recreational facilities enhance the quality of life and keep property values high."

 

            The renovations to the fields began last fall and included the complete rebuilding of their infields and reseeding and filling of the outfield areas.  The largest of the three fields, the 90 foot north field, received a “Shea Stadium” style infield and the installation of brand new drainage system.  

 

            “These renovations make an already great facility even better,” added Councilman Ferrara.  “I hope residents will take full advantage of these fantastic new fields.”

 

            Michael J. Tully Physical Athletic Center, located on Evergreen Avenue in New Hyde Park, features an indoor pool and recreational center is situated on forty-five acres and hosts the only public indoor pool in North Hempstead.  In addition to the pool, the facility also contains an exercise room and brand new sauna and steam rooms for both the men’s and women’s locker room.  The facility offers a wide range of classes and programs for all ages, which include: swim lessons, aquacise, lifeguard training, early bird swim, deep water aerobics, ballroom dancing, exercise and yoga classes.  Space is also available for children’s birthday parties.

 

Tully Park also has fields available for soccer and a stadium that can be used for football, soccer, and lacrosse.  The park also has basketball and tennis courts, and a 400 meter running rack.  For athletic and program fees please call (516) 927 3140.
