Supervisor Bosworth Outlines Plans for First Term in Inaugural Address
State Comptroller DiNapoli Administers Oath of Office
New Hyde Park, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth was publicly sworn in as the 37th Supervisor in the history of the Town of North Hempstead, during an inaugural ceremony at Clinton G. Martin Park on January 5th. Town Clerk Wayne Wink, along with re-elected Councilpersons Viviana Russell (District 1), Angelo Ferrara (District 3) and Lee Seeman (District 5) were also sworn in.
Following the oath of office ceremony administered by New York State Comptroller Tom DiNapoli, Supervisor Bosworth detailed initiatives that she will put in place. Her administration will prioritize strong finances, customer service in general and Building Department improvements in particular, and government transparency and accessibility.
“I am committed to build on the Town’s stable and secure fiscal foundation,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “I will work with the Town Board and with our highly professional finance team to help ensure the stability and strength of the Town’s finances moving forward.”
Bosworth also announced the fulfillment of campaign commitments by filling the Applicant Advocate position for the Town’s Buildings Department, and by stating that live streaming of Town Board meetings on the Town website will begin in the first quarter of 2014.
“This administration will put a renewed focus on customer service throughout the Town with an initial emphasis on the Buildings Department, and our new Applicant Advocate will assist in that endeavor by assisting our residents in navigating the permit process,” Supervisor Bosworth said.
She said the “live stream” of Town Board meetings “will enable interested residents to see and hear first-hand what is happening in their Town government without having to leave their homes and offices.” Town Clerk Wayne Wink, who was previously Supervisor Bosworth’s colleague in the Nassau County Legislature, was sworn in by U.S. Congressman Steve Israel.
“I am so honored to serve all of the people of the Town of North Hempstead as their Town Clerk,” Wink said. “We are going to work hard to make this office a helpful and user-friendly place for Town residents to do business.”
Town Councilwoman Viviana Russell vowed to continue the mantra of her first campaign of “strengthening, overcoming and welcoming” in the communities she represents.
“I am eager to continue to build the relationship between government and the community stakeholders, residents, businesses and organizations, and welcome the ideas that will move the vision forward for this community,” said Russell who was sworn in by Bishop Lionel Harvey of the First Baptist Cathedral Church of Westbury.
Angelo Ferrara, who is beginning his 5th term and was sworn in by State Senator Jack Martins, said, “I want to wish the New Administration all the best in governing our Great Town. I am committed to working together, across party lines to ensure there is no Government Gridlock in North Hempstead.”
Councilwoman Lee Seeman, sworn in by Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel, is starting her 3rd term and has been a fixture in her community of Great Neck for nearly six decades. “We have done so much to make the Town of North Hempstead one of the best places to live in American,” Seeman said. “I am eager to work with Supervisor Bosworth to continue to build on that legacy.”
Supervisor Bosworth echoed that sentiment and said she is looking forward to working with the Town Board along with the North Hempstead community.
“All our community groups will have a ‘seat at the table’ in Town Hall,” Supervisor Bosworth said. “Let’s work together to make our Town an even more extraordinary place to live, work and raise a family.”
