Supervisor Bosworth Announces Recommendation of East Hills Village Trustee Peter Zuckerman for District 2 Council Seat

North Hempstead, NY –Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth announced today her recommendation of East Hills Village Trustee Peter Zuckerman to fill the District 2 Council seat left vacant by the resignation of former Councilman Tom Dwyer, who stepped down in November. The announcement comes after a screening process in which 10 individuals were considered for the position. The Town Board will consider Bosworth’s recommendation at the January 28 Town Board meeting.

“Peter Zuckerman’s 11 years of experience on the Village of East Hills Board of Trustees, his in-depth knowledge of the community, as well as his professional background as an attorney make him an exceptionally good fit for this position,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “I will be presenting his name to the Town Board on January 28. It is important that this seat be filled expeditiously, in order to ensure representation of District 2 on the Town Board."

In addition to serving three terms on the Village of East Hills Board of Trustees representing over 7,000 residents, Zuckerman has managed and operated his own law practice since 2004. He has a bachelor’s degree from Emory University and received his law degree from New York Law School in 1993.

“I am honored to be considered for the position of North Hempstead Town Councilperson and I am confident that, working with Supervisor Bosworth and the other members of the Town Board, I will be able to have a direct and positive impact on the issues of importance to the residents of District 2,” Zuckerman said.

If appointed on January 28, Zuckerman will serve as District 2 Councilman for the remainder of 2014, with a special election to be held in November and the winner serving an additional year until the end of 2015. The election for the full four-year term for the seat will be held in November 2015.

North Hempstead’s Council District 2 encompasses Albertson, East Hills, East Williston, Glenwood Landing, Greenvale, Herricks, Manhasset Hills, Roslyn Harbor, Roslyn Heights and Searingtown.
