Manhasset, NY- Supervisor Jon Kaiman, joined by Councilman Robert Troiano, Councilman Fred Pollack, Councilman Angelo Ferrara and Town Clerk Michelle Schimel, announced this week that North Hempstead is launching its “Green Team,” an initiative geared towards maintaining the character of the Town’s downtown areas by keeping streets free from debris. Members of the “Green Team” will be deployed throughout various commercial areas of the Town in order to assist in litter removal and code enforcement.

“It is important that the Town help maintain and support the beatification of our streets and maintain the character of our downtowns,” commented Supervisor Kaiman. “Picking up the garbage is just one more way of protecting our environment and keeping our streets clean and safe.”

The Town will be keeping streets free from debris and garbage with a team of individuals devoted to keeping North Hempstead clean. “This effort does not diminish the responsibility of store owners and residents to maintain the sidewalk area in front of their properties. The goal is to compliment their efforts in order to keep our community clean and green,” added Supervisor Kaiman.

“North Hempstead is striving for a beautiful and cleaner Town for our residents to enjoy,” noted Councilman Troiano. “This effort will not only rid our Town from garbage and debris, but create an even larger sense of pride within the Town throughout the process.”
