North Hempstead to Promote the Arts with $75,000 Grant

North Hempstead, NY – The Town of North Hempstead recently received a $75,000 grant through the Market NY program that will be targeted to promote the Gold Coast International Film Festival, a joint venture between the Town of North Hempstead and the Gold Coast Arts Center.

“The film festival underscores the Town’s commitment to using film and art as a vehicle to boost the local economy,” said North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “By increasing our marketing and promotion of the festival we can build our outreach even further and increase the number of visitors.”

The Gold Coast International Film Festival, which just wrapped up its 4th year November 2014, is a week-long event of films, parties, and panels that brings the latest Hollywood hits and independent film favorites to the North Shore of Long Island. The event highlights feature films and short programs, along with Q&A sessions with filmmakers and special guests.

“This grant serves as recognition of the Gold Coast International Film Festival and its value to the community and these additional funds will enable us to continue to grow awareness of the exciting programs and events we are presenting right here in the Town of North Hempstead, open to all residents and visitors to our region,” said Regina Gil, Executive Director of the Gold Coast Arts Center. “As we approach our 5th Anniversary in fall 2015, we’re excited to reach out and attract an even wider audience.”

The goal of the Market NY program is to help increase tourism through attractions, tourist destinations and events held in New York. Grants are provided to projects that stimulate local economic growth through tourism and bring more visitors to New York State.
