LI Business News to Co-Host Town Workshop on Opening or Expanding a Business
North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town’s Business & Tourism Development Corporation (“BTDC”) Executive Director Kim Kaiman would like to remind residents that they will be hosting a BTDC Business Development Seminar on “What to Know Before Opening or Expanding a Business.” This FREE workshop will take place Wednesday, November 18, 2015 from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at the Clubhouse at Harbor Links, and will be co-hosted by Long Island Business News.
The Town welcomes commercial real estate brokers and developers, local chambers of commerce and business owners to attend and learn about the Town and local villages’ building permit and appeals process. Town and local village Building Department personnel, along with staff from the Town’s Planning Department, and outside legal counsel will be on hand to answer questions.
“The Town of North Hempstead wishes to be as welcoming and helpful to new and expanding businesses as possible because it is our businesses that make our communities successful and vibrant,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “This seminar will offer valuable information about the building permit process for anyone considering putting down business roots here in our Town.”
“The process of opening or expanding a business can be fraught with both opportunities and perils,” said Executive Director Kaiman. “Our hope is that this seminar will empower those interested in setting up shop in North Hempstead and help them successfully navigate the Town’s building permit process.”
Some of the questions that will be answered include:
-What should you research before signing a lease or contract?
-How do you research building records?
-How do you file for a building permit?
-What is a site plan review and certificate of occupancy?
The seminar is sponsored by AVZ Certified Public Accountants; Forchelli, Curto, Deegan, Schwartz, Mineo & Terrana, LLP Counselors at Law; Janney Montgomery Scott LLC; LIDC/LISBAC; National Grid; PSEG Long Island and Santander Bank.
A light breakfast will also be offered for all attendees.
