FunDay Monday Returns to North Hempstead Beach Park this Summer!
North Hempstead, NY –Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the North Hempstead Town Board have announced the schedule for the 2016 FunDay Monday season. This popular, FREE senior program, held at North Hempstead Beach Park in Port Washington, takes place every Monday from July 11 to August 29 and runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Organized and hosted by the Town’s Department of Community Services, FunDay Monday offers hundreds of seniors from across the Town the opportunity to gather for games, music, dancing, entertainment, and exercise. The program’s most widely attended events are the Health Fair on July 25 and HomeTown USA on August 29, which honors of nation’s veterans.
Back for the second consecutive year at FunDay Monday will be a farmers’ market where seniors can purchase fresh, local fruits, vegetables and other foods, beginning each Monday at 12:30 p.m. Also for the second straight year, there will be the Books at the Beach book club where participants will be lead in a discussion about a book selected by the Town. Discussions will take place on July 18 and August 15. Registration is required.
NEW additions to FunDay Monday this year include:
• The Hempstead Harbor Trail Walk, guided by Eric Swenson, Executive Director of the Hempstead Harbor Protection Committee from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. on July 18 and August 15. This relaxing stroll along the trail will provide information on the rich history and great value of our beautiful shoreline.
• Mindfulness Coloring will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Monday. This program allows you to fine tune your focus, exercise motor skills, release stress and anxiety, and relax and have a good time.

July 11: “Sweet Lorraine” will provide a show stopping start to the Funday Monday season!
July 18: “Jerry Costanzo and his 10 Piece Band” plays your favorite jazz tunes.
July 25: CANCELED
August 1: “Senior Health, Education and Information Fair” Do you know someone who would benefit from the information and services at our annual Health Education Fair? Invite them to come or bring them along with you for this fun and FREE event. The Vic Vincent Group will rock the beach.
August 8: “Dance Aloha and Elvis” Take a trip to the Polynesian Islands with the amazing Dance Aloha, and get “All Shook Up” with Elvis.
August 15: “Vince Rhodes” will have you kicking up your heels throughout.
August 22: “Stan and Edie” invite you to savor the summer.
August 29: “HomeTown USA” An exciting celebration of American traditions with crafts, hobbies, demos, musical performances, a classic car show and a special Salute to the Armed Forces. You can also come swing into dixie with “The Banjo Rascals.”
In addition to enjoying the entertainment, seniors can participate in a variety of activities, such as Line Dancing (10 a.m.), Zumba (10a.m.), Fitness (11a.m.), Mahjong (11 a.m.), and Tai Chi (12:30 p.m.).
