Town’s BTDC to Hold Seminar: “Busine$$ Incubation- Cash to Exit & Everything In-Between”

Lt. Gov. Hochul to serve as Keynote Speaker

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town’s Business & Tourism Development Corporation (“BTDC”) Executive Director Kim Kaiman would like to announce that they are hosting a breakfast seminar on Tuesday, July 12 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Launchpad Long Island, at 3 Grace Avenue in Great Neck.

The seminar, titled “Busine$$ Incubation- Cash to Exit & Everything In-Between” will inform residents and prospective business owners about the benefits of collaborative workspaces and how they can help young millenials and entrepreneurs with their start-up and early stage companies. Collaborative workspaces are co-working environments that provide professional services support (legal, finance. marketing, insurance), networking opportunities, conference rooms with televisions, high speed wi-fi, video streaming, peer support and recreational/break amenities.

The Panel will be moderated by Executive Director Kaiman, opening remarks will be provided by Supervisor Bosworth, and the Special Guest Speaker will be Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul.

Supervisor Bosworth recently attended the grand opening of Launchpad Long Island and is excited about the upcoming seminar.  “It is so critical that we have a vision for the future and equip our millennials with the knowledge they need to start up and operate successful businesses,” Supervisor Bosworth said.  “This seminar is poised to give entrepreneurs in our community the ability to understand the benefit of collaborative workspaces and how to finance their fledgling businesses.”

Lieutenant Governor Hochul chairs the 10 Regional Economic Development Councils that have transformed the state’s economy by building upon regional strengths through long-term strategic plans, and also chairs the State Workforce Investment Board.

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul said, "Great ideas don't happen in a vacuum. Across the State, I have visited numerous collaborative workspaces and I can say from first-hand experience that this is the new way we get things done in our State because the benefits are exponential. Entrepreneurs share resources and expertise, problem-solve and have creative collisions to spark their next big idea -- not to mention the major incentives through START-UP NY. The future is already happening and we need more bright minds to jump in."

This seminar will introduce three of the most prominent people within the business incubation industry on Long Island:

·         Andrew Hazen, Launchpad Long Island will discuss: Collaborative Workspaces/Environments

·         Peter Goldsmith, Long Island Software and Technology Network will discuss: Start-up & Early Stage Companies: How to Start a Company, Finance It and Prepare a Business/Marketing Plan

·         Michael Faltischek, Esq., Ruskin, Mouscou, Faltischeck, Attorneys at Law; Chair, Board of Directors, Long Island Angel Network- will discuss:  Seed Funding:  Angel and Venture Funding.
