North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Councilwoman Viviana Russell, and Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe, in conjunction with North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center, invite residents to join them, other elected officials, and members of the community on Tuesday, August 1 in celebrating “National Night Out 2017,” the annual rally against crime.

National Night Out is an annual community-building event that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make neighborhoods safer, caring places to live. The event offers information about health provider services and educational resources. It also features live music, games, refreshments, a performance by the National Circus Project, and more.

The event kicks off with a parade, starting at 5:30 p.m., at the Salvation Army on 992 Prospect Avenue in Westbury. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. at Martin “Bunky” Reid Park, located at Broadway and Swam Street in Westbury.

“National Night Out is a great opportunity for neighbors, businesses and law enforcement to join together as a community to build partnerships. This community driven campaign allows us to unite together for a great event that promotes understanding throughout the Town,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth.

Applebee’s and Target are the main sponsors for this year’s event with support from Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority – Pi Pi Omega Chapter, the Town of North Hempstead, Nassau County, and North Shore Child and Family Guidance Center. Local businesses and organizations in the community and in the surrounding areas have a presence at the event as well.

Applebee’s, the premier sponsor, is donating free hundreds of burgers and hot dogs for the event. This is the third year in a row that Applebee’s has sponsored the event.

“We are excited to once again be hosting National Night Out at our very own Martin Bunky Reid Park,” said Council Member Russell, a longtime New Cassel resident. “National Night Out builds positive relationships between residents and law enforcement, while also providing lots of fun for the entire family.”

“I am excited to join community members and law enforcement for another year of raising awareness, building unity, and strengthening our communities through the spirit of partnership. It is through such partnership that we can work towards creating a safer community for the benefit of our residents and youth,” said Nassau County Legislator Siela Bynoe.
