TOWN OF NORTH HEMSPTEAD ACCEPTING APPLICATIONS FOR WESTBURY WATER DISTRICT COMMISSIONER

(Manhasset NY May 30) – North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Robert Troiano announced today that the Town is now accepting applications for an open position of Commissioner for the Westbury Water District. The position became available due to the resignation of former Commissioner Robert Culbert?

The Town has created a screening committee which will include Supervisor Kaiman, Town Councilman Robert Troiano, Jr., the Town’s Public Works Commissioner Michael Martirano and the Director of the Town Office of Intermunicipal Coordination, Kevin Kelly.

Upon completion of the interview/screening process, the committee will make a recommendation to the North Hempstead Town Board. Supervisor Kaiman hopes to have a candidate to put before the Town Board for a vote at its July 10th meeting.

Anyone interested in applying for this position should forward a letter of interest to the office of Intermunicipal Coordination, by mail at Town Hall, 220 Plandome Road, Manhasset, New York 11030, or via email at Kkelly@northhempsteadny.gov.

The Westbury Water District is responsible for providing tap water to over 6,000 residents and businesses. District operations are overseen by a board of three commissioners who are elected for three year terms. The candidate selected by the Town Board will serve until the end of the year. A public election will be held in December to elect a Commissioner to serve the remainder of Mr. Culbert’s term, which expires on December 31, 2009.
