Supervisor Bosworth & Council Member Lurvey Urge LIRR to Repair Webster Avenue Bridge

North Hempstead, NY –Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Member Veronica Lurvey are urging the MTA-Long Island Railroad (LIRR) to prioritize funding in its 2020-2024 Capital Plan for the repair of the Webster Avenue Bridge in Manhasset.  In a letter to the LIRR President Philip Eng, the Supervisor and Council Member stated:

“As you know, the Webster Avenue Bridge on Bridge Road in Manhasset has been labeled as structurally deficient. It provides a vital connection between two parts of the Manhasset community. It is our understanding that work has been postponed on the bridge in the past. Our offices have received increasing calls form longtime residents complaining about the noise from the bridge…The Town and our residents are alarmed by the structurally deficient bridge and the increasing noise it is bringing to the neighborhood.”

“We have asked for a meeting with LIRR representatives to discuss the matter,” said Council Member Lurvey. “The Supervisor and I want to see this project move forward quickly before it becomes a serious safety issue.”
