North Hempstead Hosts 9th Annual Veterans Breakfast

North Hempstead, NY – Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the North Hempstead Town Board hosted the Town’s ninth annual “Thank You to Our Veterans” Breakfast on November 1 at Clinton G. Martin Park which was attended by more than 300 veterans.

The breakfast recognized the men and women who courageously put themselves in harm’s way to protect America’s freedoms. In addition to the breakfast that was served free of charge, exhibitors from veteran and government agencies were on hand to explain services and entitlements available to veterans.

Joining Supervisor Bosworth were members of the North Hempstead Town Board: Council Member Peter Zuckerman, Council Member Angelo Ferrara, Council Member Veronica Lurvey, Council Member Lee Seeman, and Council Member Dina De Giorgio. Also in attendance were Town Clerk Wayne Wink, Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman.

The “Thank You to Our Veterans” program, which was coordinated by the Town’s Department of Community Services and sponsored by Bethpage Federal Credit Union, kicked off with a presentation of the colors by the U.S. Marine Corps. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the Town’s Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman. This was followed by the National Anthem, a moment of silence in memory of all those who have given their lives in defense of our nation, the Armed Forces Medley, and an Invocation by Msgr. Charles Fink.

The event featured internment from the Quatrain Barbershop Quartet.

Exhibitors included the Northport VA Medical Center, Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Long Island State Veterans Home at Stony Brook, North Hempstead’s Project Independence, the Office of the Receiver of Taxes Charles Berman, the Office of New York State Assemblyman Tony D’Urso, Nassau County Veterans Services Agency and PFC Dwyer Peer Support Project/VET2VET.
