Town Extends Hours for Pool Due to Heatwave

North Hempstead, NY - Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board have announced extended hours for today, Monday, July 20 at all of the Town’s pools.

The pool second session will be open from 2:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. instead of its normal closing time of 6 p.m. The pool facility will be closed from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. to sanitize the facility. Visitors will be admitted on a first come, first serve basis.

High traffic areas will also be cleaned frequently throughout the day. Upon exiting, attendees will not be allowed to reenter. All exits are final. No guest passes or guest entry will be allowed.

Social distancing guidelines for the pools will be in effect, which will require residents to wear masks when not in the pool, maintain social distancing guidelines, and stay six feet apart while waiting on line in the facility and while on the pool deck. Facility capacity will be monitored and hours of operation may be adjusted accordingly to help adhere to social distancing guidelines. Locker rooms and showering facilities will have a reduced capacity and visitors are encouraged to wash their hands frequently.

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

Additionally, no outside food deliveries will be allowed and no food will be allowed on the pool deck. Food will be allowed in designated areas only.
