North Hempstead Announces the Reopening of Michael J. Tully Park Pool

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board are thrilled to announce that Michael J. Tully Park Pool will reopen on Wednesday, October 14. The pool will reopen with a reduced capacity to ensure the Town is meeting state COVID-19 guidelines.

“I certainly understand how important it is to our residents for Tully Park Pool to reopen,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “We appreciate their patience as we have worked to upgrade the pool over the last several months to improve conditions and provide a better and safer experience for our residents.”

"I am so happy that we are reopening the pool,” said Councilmember Ferrara. “This is one of our Town’s treasures that needs to be enjoyed as much as possible. Please follow all of the rules, enjoy the pool and stay safe."

The pool will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Access to the Tully Park Pool facility is for Town of North Hempstead residents only at this time. Tully Park Pool members are allowed access to the pool facility, and membership is available to Town of North Hempstead residents for purchase.

Additionally, North Hempstead residents without a Tully Park Pool membership will have the option to purchase a daily pass to use the pool facility. No guests will be allowed to utilize the pool facility, unless they are children or grandchildren 12 years and under. Town officials are also advising residents that saunas at the Tully Park Pool facility will be closed to the public.

High traffic areas will also be cleaned frequently throughout the day. Upon exiting, attendees will not be allowed to reenter. All exits are final. No guest passes or guest entry will be allowed.

Social distancing guidelines for the pools will be in effect, which will require residents to wear masks when not in the pool, maintain social distancing guidelines, and stay six feet apart while waiting on line in the facility and while on the pool deck. Facility capacity will be monitored and hours of operation may be adjusted accordingly to help adhere to social distancing guidelines. Locker rooms and showering facilities will also have a reduced capacity and accommodate social distancing guidelines. Visitors are encouraged to wash their hands frequently.

Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult. For children attending the pool with a caretaker other than a parent or legal guardian, the caretaker and the child’s parent or legal guardian must appear together upon their first pool visit to obtain a caretaker identification card for subsequent visits.
