Town Announces the Re-Opening of 'Yes We Can' Gymnasium for Youth Basketball

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth and Council Member Viviana Russell have announced that the "Yes We Can" Community Center's gymnasium has reopened. The gymnasium is open to members only, ages 17 and under. All members must call in advance to make a reservation to use the gym.

"The Town is pleased to be able to re-open the ‘Yes We Can’ Community Center's gymnasium for our children," said Supervisor Bosworth. "We knew that it was important for us to ensure that we re-opened in a safe manner and one which would adhere to all COVID-19 guidelines. We are looking forward to welcoming children back to our community center to have some fun."

Members must bring their own basketballs, and hoops will be limited to 3 people per hoop. Temperature checks will be administered upon entering the community center. All members are required to wear a face mask at all times. Youth under 10 years old must be accompanied by an adult.

Members can call to make a reservation for the gym during the following times:

  • Mondays: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. & 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Tuesdays: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. & 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Wednesdays: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Thursdays: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. & 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
  • Fridays: 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. & 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Saturdays: 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
  • Sundays: 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
