North Hempstead Unveil New Project Independence Website Updates

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, the Town Board, and the Town’s Department of Services for the Aging were recently proud to unveil a newly revamped website for Project Independence.

“We hope these new updates will help make the website more user friendly and intuitive,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “Our website has all the latest updates including our virtual classes, exercise programs for seniors, newsletters, and more.”

The website’s new features include:
  • New graphics and design

  • News and updates section with newsletters, email newsletters, calendars, and articles

  • Links to the Project Independence Virtual Exercise Classes

  • Links to listen to the live “PI and You” radio show, access archived shows, and Zoom recordings

  • Project Independence informational brochures and Project Independence transportation brochures in different languages including English, Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Creole and Farsi

Project Independence was created in 2009 as an aging-in-place program for the Town’s nearly 60,000 residents over 60. To date, it has answered over 265,000 service requests and taken over 322,000 requests for rides to food shopping and medical trips. Since the COVID-19 pandemic began, 275 new members have signed up to be a part of Project Independence. There are currently over 15,000 registered Project Independence members.
