Town lends support toward creation of the Kornreich Early Learning Center

Mineola, NY- North Hempstead Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Councilman Angelo P. Ferrara gathered along with distinguished guests for the ribbon cutting ceremony of the Kornreich Early Learning Center last Friday, February 1, 2008. The learning center provides the fundamentals of learning, tuition free, to 36 disadvantaged three year old children in Mineola, focusing on the development of the children’s language, cognitive, social and motor skills necessary for their entry into Pre-Kindergarten. Supervisor Kaiman and Councilman Ferrara presented a check of $10,000 to the Family Service League for helping establish the Kornreich Early Learning Center, offering support and stock to this great initiative.

“It is my distinct pleasure to support the Kornriech Early Learning Center and I thank the Supervisor and Town Board for their backing. We can expect only positive results from this program that I hope will expand in the coming years,” said Councilman Ferrara.

The Kornreich Early Learning Center, located in the Willis Avenue School, came to fruition due in large part to the support of the Family Service League and the generous commitment on behalf of John and Janet Kornreich. The Family Service League has been providing a Pre-School education opportunity for low income children for over 40 years.

“Increasingly as more is learned about brain development, early education is identified as a critical intervention for disadvantaged young children,” said Mr. Van Dyke, President & CEO of Family Service League. “We are fortunate to have the generous commitment from Janet and John Kornreich to help these children succeed.”

The Family Service League also presented Supervisor Kaiman and Councilman Ferrara with certificates of appreciation for the town’s support of the center.

Janet and John Kornreich, have worked tirelessly on behalf of the children on Long Island, displaying a commitment toward providing a quality education and an equal opportunity for children in need.
