Town Hosts New Teen Fitness Program at “Yes We Can” Community Center
North Hempstead, NY – Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Council Member Viviana Russell, and the Town Board have announced that a new teen fitness program will be held at the “Yes We Can” Community Center in Westbury. The 10-week program uses interactive and fun physical activities blended with game mechanics and sports to help teens become and stay physically fit.
“We are excited to unveil this new program to get teens active and learn more about healthy habits that they can carry forward throughout their life,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “These interactive fitness classes are specifically designed for middle and high school students. The weekly classes will allow them to achieve fitness goals while having fun at the same time.”
Classes will be led by a fitness instructor once a week for 90 minutes and focus on fitness, strength, and endurance. The unique program is open to those of all fitness levels and includes the ability to track workout progress, encouraging teens to achieve fitness goals. The fitness program is designed for youth in middle and high school.
Spring session will be held: May 7, 2021 through July 9, 2021. Summer session will be held July 16, 2021 through September 17, 2021. All classes will be held on Fridays from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Registration begins April 19, 2021.
Upon successful completion of the program, teens will receive a free 6-month youth membership for the “Yes We Can” Community Center (open to residents only).
An active “Yes We Can” Community Center youth membership is required for enrollment in the program. The fitness programs will follow all New York State COVID-19 health and safety guidelines. For more information about these programs, please call 516-876-4430 or 516-876-4431.
