Town of North Hempstead Announces 2008 Hazardous
Household Waste Drop-off Schedules and Locations
(Manhasset, NY)—Town Supervisor Jon Kaiman has announced the dates for the Town of North Hempstead’s 2008 S.T.O.P (Stop Throwing Out Pollutants) program. Every year the Town of North Hempstead holds a STOP program four times a year giving residents an opportunity to dispose of common household products, which are too toxic to be disposed of with regular waste, such as paints, cleaners, batteries, oil, corrosive materials, etc.
“The Town is all too aware of the dangers these pollutants can cause if disposed of improperly,” said Supervisor Kaiman. “This is why we offer residents an environmentally-friendly means to conveniently dispose of hazardous household waste four times a year.”
The STOP Program drop-off time—9:30 am to 3:00 pm—are scheduled for the following dates:
Saturday, April 12, at Michael J. Tully Park; 1801 Evergreen Ave. in New Hyde Park;
Saturday, June 7, at the Solid Waste Management Authority at 802 West Shore Rd., Port Washington;
Saturday, Sept. 6, at Michael J. Tully Park, 1801 Evergreen Ave., New Hyde Park, and
Sunday Nov. 9, at the Solid Waste Management Authority at 802 West Shore Road in Port Washington.
