Town of North Hempstead to Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month
Ceremony at “Yes We Can” on Tuesday, October 5

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board announced that the Town will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month on Tuesday, October 5 at 6:30 p.m., with a very special ceremony at North Hempstead’s “Yes We Can” Community Center, 141 Garden Street in Westbury. Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated each year from September 15 to October 15.

“Hispanic Heritage Month serves as an important opportunity to highlight the significant contributions made by Hispanic-American across the country and right here in the Town of North Hempstead,” said Supervisor Bosworth. “This community has always demonstrated a commitment to others, through service, diligence and hard work, and it is imperative that we pay tribute to the generations of Hispanic-Americans who have made a lasting and positive impact on our communities.”

The event will include live entertainment from Fiesta Tropical Triple M, Las Guadalupanas, and Krisia & Khristian Romano. All members of the public are welcome to attend.

Hispanic Heritage Month begins each year on September 15, the anniversary of independence for five Latin American countries: Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras and Nicaragua, with Mexico’s anniversary of its independence on September 16.

North Hempstead’s “Yes We Can” Community Center is located at 141 Garden Street in Westbury. Please be advised that mask wearing is required indoors at all Town facilities. For more information, please call 311 or visit www.northhempsteadny.gov.
