North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth, Town Council Members Viviana Russell and Peter Zuckerman, along with Town Clerk Wayne Wink attended a press conference hosted by United States Senator Chuck Schumer on October 14 at Clinton G. Martin Park. They joined together to advocate for additional funding for the Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) which will greatly assist low-income residents pay the cost of heating their homes this winter.

“I would like to extend my sincere appreciation to Senator Schumer for his continued efforts to assist North Hempstead families and communities across New York State,” said Supervisor Judi Bosworth. “The Home Energy Assistance Program provides critical relief to our most vulnerable residents, and North Hempstead stands with Senator Schumer in our advocacy for increased funding for such an essential program.”

HEAP helps keep low-income families safe and healthy through initiatives that assist families with energy costs. They provide federally funded assistance to manage costs associated with home energy bills, energy crises, weatherization, and energy-related minor home repairs.
