North Hempstead, NY—Rocco Iannarelli, Receiver of Taxes for the Town of North Hempstead, announced that he has accepted the position of Vice President for Human Resources at the New York Power Authority (NYPA) effective Dec. 7, 2009.

First elected in 2003, Iannarelli served six years, during which he increased investment revenue by $1.5 million and, tackling projects he prioritized, enhanced customer service in the Receiver’s office, and engineered a long-overdue facility modernization. Prior to becoming Receiver of Taxes, Iannarelli served as Clerk of the Nassau County Legislature from January 2000- December 2003.

“Rocco Iannarelli has exhibited great talent and dedication to the job of Receiver of Taxes.  He has made great improvements to that office that will benefit all of our residents for years to come,” said Supervisor Jon Kaiman.  “I am confident that we will continue to be proud of the work that he does on behalf of the residents of the State of New York in his new position with the New York State Power Authority.”

In his new position at NYPA, Iannarelli will oversee the employment needs of more than 1,500 employees.

“It has been an honor to serve the taxpayers of North Hempstead, as it was an honor to serve all of Nassau County in my capacity as Clerk of the Legislature,” said Iannarelli. “I look forward to serving all of New York by supporting those working on sound energy policy and economic development.”
