Town of North Hempstead Hosts Annual WinterFest feat. Polar Plunge

Port Washington, NY—Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board invite all residents to be one of hundreds who brave the frigid waters at North Hempstead Beach Park for 7th annual Polar Plunge. Sponsored by the Special Olympics, the Polar Plunge will be held at North Hempstead Beach Park on March 5 with registration beginning at 9:00am and the Plunge at 12:00 noon.

“Besides being a great event to socialize with family, friends and neighbors and engage in friendly and fun rivalry, the Annual Polar Plunge gives everyone the opportunity to raise funds for a worthy cause,” Supervisor Jon Kaiman said. “I look forward to seeing you there.”

WinterFest 2011 features entertainment from WBAB 102.3, a Nassau County Police Department display, and children’s activities including professional face painting, hot cocoa, winter treats and much more!

In addition to Supervisor Kaiman, plungers will also include County Executive Ed Mangano and State Assemblywoman Michelle Schimel.

Individuals or teams of plungers can earn fabulous prizes for raising the most money.

In the Battle of the Badges, teams from the County Fire Department and the Police Department will compete against each other for bragging rights for who can raise the most funds.
