Jon Kaiman To Receive “Leadership Award” from Gold Coast International Film Festival

North Hempstead, NY Organizers of the Gold Coast International Film Festival (GCIFF) announced today that Town of North Hempstead Supervisor Jon Kaiman will be given the 2011 GCIFF Leadership Award for his outstanding commitment to promoting arts and culture throughout the North Shore of Long Island.

Supervisor Kaiman will be presented with the prestigious award Friday, June 3 at Louie’s Oyster Bar and Grill, 395 Main St., Port Washington.

“We thank Supervisor Jon Kaiman for his enthusiasm, energy and eagerness to make North Hempstead an international home for the performing arts,” said Regina Gil, Founder and Executive Director of the GCIFF. “Without his commitment and future engagement, thousands would not experience the creativity, the history and the intrigue of the North Shore’s first International Film Festival.”

Reacting to being honored with the award, Supervisor Jon Kaiman said: “I want to thank all those who worked tirelessly on making this Film Festival a reality. From North Hempstead’s Business and Tourism Development Corporation to the Great Neck Arts Center and the entire Film Festival Staff, whose efforts laid the groundwork for a world class film festival.”

|Supervisor Kaiman will be presented the GCIFF Leadership Award at the ‘Cocktail Party Under the Stars’ event hosted by Louie’s Oyster Bay and Grill, Long Island Fine Wines, Belfast Bay Brewing Company and United Floral.

The GCIFF Leadership Award are among other accolades created by internationally renowned artist SICA, a New York City native who began her artistic career in 1950 and has collections of work shown in Le Musée Moderne de la Ville Paris, the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, the Brooklyn Museum, New York University and many other fine art institutions and private collections.

She states the inspiration behind the design of the GCIFF Awards was based upon the amphora awarded to winners of the ancient Olympics, the Dove of Peace and the Winged Victory of Samothrace.

Other award recipients during the Film Festival, include Bruce Dern an actor whose career has spanned more than four decades, working with industry luminaries such as Frencis Ford Coppola and Alfred Hitchcock.
