Town of North Hempstead Opens Reconstructed State-of-the-Art Manorhaven Pool

Manorhaven, NY
With the picturesque Manhasset Bay as the perfect backdrop, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and Town Councilman Fred L. Pollack joined with other North Hempstead elected officials and the Parks & Recreation Department to kick off a much-anticipated event—the Grand Re-Opening of Manorhaven Pool.

“This has been a long time coming,” Supervisor Jon Kaiman said in addressing scores of eager swimmers lined up outside the newly-redesigned outdoor facility. “We are extremely proud of the way this pool as turned out and Manorhaven Beach Park will now be a premier family destination once again.”

The 25,000 square foot main pool area and 12,000 square foot bathhouse complex featuring event space and food service opened Saturday, June 25. The day-long pool party featured a DJ, a steel drum orchestra and giveaways by KJOY Radio.

The pool complex, located at 80 Manorhaven Blvd in Port Washington, boasts among other features a competition and lap swim area, general swim sections, zero depth entry for children and beginners, as well as water slides and play features.

“With this scenic bay as a backdrop, we have a park at long last that we can truly call extraordinary,” Councilman Pollack said. “I feel proud to be part of an administration that continually strives to enhance the quality of life for residents.”

Late last year, the Town reopened a fully-remodeled and reconstructed pool facility Michael J. Tully Park in New Hyde Park. Renamed the North Hempstead Aquatic Activity Center at Tully Park, the 30,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art facility boasts an array of features including a figure eight slide and three separate zones, an interactive area with six water features, a zone with six lanes for lap swimming and a zero-depth entry zone for wading.

Residents are asked to call 311 for membership rates and other information for both pools. You can also check out pictures from the Grand Re-Opening on Saturday by visiting North Hempstead online at www.northhempsteadny.gov or at www.facebook.com/northhempstead.
