Supervisor Kaiman Reminds Residents Victimized By Irene to Register with FEMA Before End of October Deadline
North Hempstead, NY— As those victimized by Tropical Storm Irene try to put their lives back together, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board reached out to residents whose properties sustained damage, reminding them that the deadline is looming to register with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and thus become eligible for disaster assistance.
Those who fail to register with FEMA by the Oct. 31, 2011 deadline will not be eligible to receive disaster assistance funds.
You may register online at www.disasterassistance.gov or by phone at (800) 621-3362
Those who sustained damage to septic systems are also reminded that they, too, are eligible for assistance.
