Town Hosts Installation Ceremony of New India Association of Long Island Board Members
North Hempstead, NY — In a ceremony partly celebrating North Hempstead’s growing diversity while creating a networking opportunity for community leaders and elected officials, Supervisor Jon Kaiman and members of the Town Board last Thursday installed the newly-elected board of the India Association of Long Island at Town Hall.
Newly-installed president, Dr. Sukhvinder Ranu, a neonatologist at King County Hospital Center in Brooklyn and a resident of Garden City Park, vowed to continue honing the mission of the 32 year-old, non-profit organization to promote, share and celebrate the culture of India and foster a better understanding of the diversity and heritage of the Indian subcontinent.
Dr. Ranu said he plans to focus on changing the constitution of the organization to better serve current needs as well as build a community center.
