A Valentine Wedding Message…
Get Me to the Clerk on Time

 Immediate Release | Contact: David Chauvin |January 13, 2005 | (516) 869-7794

Manhasset, NY - “Valentine’s Day is a great day at the office,” says Town Clerk, Michelle Schimel.  On that day, she clears her calendar of staff meetings, budget planning, letter writing, and all the usual business to concentrate on one task only: performing wedding ceremonies.

Ms. Schimel performs wedding ceremonies throughout the year in her office. But once a year, on Valentine’s Day - Monday, February 14, 2005 - the Town of North Hempstead opens the Town Board Room for wedding ceremonies.  On this special day, newlyweds enjoy freshly-baked goods, live music, and each bride receives a gift from Ms. Schimel.

Priority appointments will be given to Town of North Hempstead residents from noon until 4:30 pm.  The wedding ceremony is free for town residents, but please note that there is a 24-hour waiting period after a marriage license is issued.

Are you beginning to hear wedding bells?  If you are, Valentine’s Day might be the perfect day to listen to them chime.  For a wedding ceremony appointment, please call the Town Clerk’s Office at (516) 869-7646.
