Town of North Hempstead Sponsoring AARP Defensive Driving Courses
North Hempstead, NY– Supervisor Jon Kaiman and the North Hempstead Town Board recently partnered with the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP), to announce the first in a series of four defensive driving courses scheduled for the year.
The courses, the first of which will convene Saturday May 12th, will be held at Clinton G. Martin Park, 1601 Marcus Ave. in New Hyde Park from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.
”Not only will the course help to reinforce defensive habits, but it’s also a chance for employees and residents to reduce insurance costs, and cut penalty points,” Supervisor Kaiman said.
The six-hour-long course costs $17 for AARP members and $19 for non-members. Three other courses scheduled for the year will be held on July 14th, September 8th, and October 27th.
To reserve a place in the class, please make the check out to AARP and mail it to Dept of Community Services, 1601 Marcus Ave, New Hyde Park, NY 11040. Please be sure the check has your name, address, phone number and date of the class you wish to attend. Your phone number is important in case the course must be canceled. A confirmation letter will be mailed to you when your check is received. Call 311 if you have any further questions.
