Town to Hold Remote Board Meetings

North Hempstead, NY – North Hempstead Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth and the Town Board announced that beginning Thursday, September 30, 2021, the Town’s meetings will held remotely via video conference in an effort to reduce the spread of COVID-19. Town officials are reminding residents that the Town Board room will not be open to the public and there will be no in-person access to the meeting.

New York State Governor Kathy Hochul signed legislation in the beginning of September to permit virtual public meetings to assist with reducing the need for congregation at public meetings to reduce the spread of the Delta variant.

The Town Board meetings, Solid Waste Management Authority (SWMA) meetings, along with the upcoming budget hearings will be held remotely.

Due to the change in meeting format from in-person attendance to virtual, the legal notices for the public hearings scheduled for September 30, 2021 will be updated. These public hearings will be continued without a date and new hearing dates will be set during the September 30 meeting. The new hearings will be held virtually at a later date. Any public comment that was previously offered and included in the hearing record for an item that will be continued without a date will remain part of the record.

The Town Board meetings will broadcast live on the Town's website beginning at its regularly scheduled time at 7 p.m. Residents who are interested in viewing the meetings can visit: northhempsteadny.gov/townboardlive.

If a resident has a comment related to an item on the agenda, they can email: comments@northhempsteadny.gov. Written comments must be received at least 60 minutes prior to the meeting.

Residents are encouraged to call 516-869-6311 or 311 with any questions.
